Review: Do it Tomorrow App

So I've been using this Do It Tomorrow app on and off for about a year.  What it comes down to is a basic to-do list. It's not my daily to-do list, that's handwritten however I use it as a list of things I would like to get accomplished at some point.  I use it as a reminder.  It is my master list of tasks.

How many times have you been out and about then remember - "damn I wanted to do that"  but you know as soon as you get home you'll forget - well I use this app for those moments.  I check it periodically during the week to see if I need to add any of them to my daily to-do list.

I have used other to-do list apps but they get so complicated with a list for this and a list for that and oh I should have lists for the kids and soon I was drowning in lists.  Do it tomorrow app reminded me that I should keep it simple.  So I have two lists the master list and the daily list.  My master list is my do it tomorrow app that I can ignore and not get overwhelmed.  My daily to-do list is a thoughtful list I make each morning of things I know I can accomplish that day and if I get them all done early - that is when I turn to my Do it Tomorrow list.

Here's a quick snapshot of my thoughts on the app:

Neutral:
  • It's one list - I say neutral because I like this as a feature.  When I had several lists I got confused and overwhelmed.  But I can see how a super organized person would like the complicated lists.
  • Ultimately it comes down to being just a to-do list - no bells or whistles - again I prefer that, see reason above.
Pros:

  • Keeps track of your tasks
  • Chrome allows you to add it as an extension to its browser
  • List items are placed in the cloud so you can access it from anywhere that has an App (itunes or android market)  I have mine on my tablet.
  • List automatically moves to tomorrow if you don't cross it off
  • You can move things to the next day and focus on the ones you want to get done today
  • you can move tasks on the list up and down
  • Pretty user interface - I think visually appealing is a good thing
  • Simple
  • It's free although there is a paid service to integrate Google Tasks for $1.99 I did not have this

Cons:
  • The extension only lets you add items to your list, you can't see other items on your list without opening the app
Note: I didn't get paid for this.  I know there are so many blog posts (not mine) that do this but not this one.

  1. I like the name! It has this edgy tension of being procrastination or the opposite of it!

I'm experimenting with stormboard (for the task I cooperate on with my webdesigner) and using Evernote.

    1. funny you should say that - it's tagline is "the to-do list for procrastinators"

I use Evernote too but I don't really use the task feature - it too becomes just a bunch of lists everywhere.

  2. What a great idea! I need to download this. I like how if you don't cross a task off it automatically moves it to the next day so you don't forget about it. This will take care of all the stickies I have laying around with things I need to get done that I've been putting off doing and throwing away! Ha! Thanks for sharing!

    1. So true and I know for the android app you can have a widget for your tablet, that show the top few items on the list. I don't use it because I'd like to stick to my daily list and I have a calendar widget up which is all I want to see when I use my tablet.

  4. That sounds interesting. Mostly I am trying to keep Apps to a minimum, but maybe I should consider this one. My favorite feature? List automatically moves to tomorrow if you don't cross it off.

    1. Not that I mind either way - it's more curiosity, why you are keeping apps to a minimum?

  6. This kinds of reminds me of the reminders list on iphones. I use that list for everything and sometimes make separate lists for special things.
