Make a small pillow box - with template

I'm doing last minute work on our Halloween Haunted house.  I decided I needed a pillow box but alas could not find any in the local stores so I decided to make my own.  It's kind of primitive but I hope self explanatory.  Click here for a free pdf file template of the pillow box and follow along:

Best used with card stock.

1.  Print the template

2.  Cut the outer lines.  Be sure to get between the ovals

3.  Use a bone folder or back of a butter knife to press on the inner lines, these will be the fold.

This is a good time to decorate the blank side of the pillow box (optional :) )

4.  Fold in half lengthwise and use tape or glue to hold down the tab.

5.  Push in the side to make the pillow

  1. These are super cute and a great idea for kids to make their own packaging for the holidays. They can use such an array of different papers. :-)

    1. It is strange that we are so used to being a pre-made society that we forget it's just as easy to make it ourselves. Glad you liked it.

  3. Great idea. Do you use construction paper? I send all your posts to my daughter and she loved the ones you have done for Halloween.

    1. No, card stock 64 lbs. I think construction paper may be too weak but I suppose it depends what you are putting in them. In my case, I'm putting mini m&ms. I'm glad your daughter enjoys them, thanks for the support.

  5. Love the idea of using these as homemade gift boxes! Any idea how sturdy they would be if I scaled the pattern to be larger?

    1. I have never made a big one - but you've given me a challenge to find out - I'll look into it this weekend. One thought - I've seen it made with the corrugated paper. I bet ya that is pretty strong.

    1. I know what you mean, I have some small decorative boxes I can't seem to get rid of. I heard once that woman love little boxes. I like to convince myself that it's not true but I do love them so :)

    1. Sometimes when I see the cost of things, I think are you kidding me, it can't be that hard. Sometimes I'm wrong but this time I was right :)
